Estimated valueHow we estimate this
Point values are estimates rather than fixed exchange rates. Our benchmarks combine published valuations from independent travel-rewards sources. Where comparable estimates are available, we use the middle of those estimates rather than copying one publisher. AwardWallet’s observed redemption data provides context but is generally not averaged directly into the benchmark: its method differs and may include premium-cabin awards.
The published range spans differing methods. It is not a statistical confidence interval or a guaranteed value.
Confidence describes source coverage, not statistical certainty. High means several independent benchmark sources; medium means two useful sources or notable disagreement; limited means primarily one benchmark source or sparse observed data.
Actual value varies by hotel, route, cabin, date, award availability, taxes, fees and program rules.
Sources included for context: The Points Guy · Frequent Miler · NerdWallet · Upgraded Points · AwardWallet

Points × benchmark cents per point ÷ 100
For hotels, use the total cash price you would pay. Enter mandatory award resort fees or charges here.
Enter the cash price and points required to compare this booking. Leave fees blank if there are none.
(Cash price − award fees) ÷ points required × 100; score = redemption value ÷ benchmark × 100.
Travel is a way of life
For many years, our family has traveled around the world, from cities and national parks to cruises. We enjoy more than just seeing new places. We also like figuring out how to plan a trip, where to stay, and when it makes more sense to use cash or points. I have spent much of my career in technology, so I tend to approach travel with an engineer’s mindset—comparing options, calculating value, and understanding how the rules work. Over the years, we have made extensive use of credit card rewards, airline miles, hotel points, and vacation exchange programs such as WorldMark and Interval International.
Here we share what we have learned from real experience: travel stories, hotels, points and miles, family travel, vacation clubs, and practical tools that make trip planning a little easier.
